Guitarist Rick Vandivier

Vandivier is a guitarist skilled at sparking the intellect, warming the heart, and raising the spirit of listeners. He is a true sonic expressionist with the subtle sophistication of a premier jazz guitarist, who enjoys drinking from the wellspring of his rock, funk and blues experience. Watching Mr. Vandivier perform, one sees a man is on fire to play, and who has spent a lifetime making life better by sharing music. Alexander Schmitz (Jazz Podium, Germany, 11/1/17) calls Mr. Vandivier a ”living soul legend who feels more in the heart and fingers than dozens of other string VIPs together.”

Vandivier has recorded three albums to date with his contemporary eclectic trio, and three with the adventuresome group Primary Colors. His most recent album release “Under One Roof” went public in October 2017 and received robust national airplay as reported by JazzWeek. Andrew Gilbert wrote in the San Jose Mercury (9/7/17) that “Vandivier has...never sounded better than on his new album. Jazz Weekly (11/16/17) reports “Most clever is a hip and mellow read of the Beatles “Come Together”, while Vandivier is deft and sly on “You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To”. In Jazz Quad (10/4/17), Leonid Auskern declared Vandivier’s “...guitar reigns unchallenged in this album...I can recommend it to almost any fan of music.” Mr. Vandivier is included in Scott Yanow's book “The Great Jazz Guitarists-the Ultimate Guide” (Backbeat Books 2017)
